Dupattas

Dupattas

Early evidence of the dupatta can be traced back to the Indus Valley civilisation where the sculpture of the Priest King depict his shoulder being covered by a chaddar. Traditionally worn by women as a symbol of modesty, it is believed to have evolved from "Uttariya", a type of scarf that originated from the bygone era of ancient India. In recent times, it has drawn inspiration from its classical counterpart and taken on contemporary vibes as an accessory for salwars, kurtis and kurtas. Hand-woven in different textiles, this fabric is adorned with vibrant hues and vivid patterns that can be paired and draped in versatile ways.
