Conversations with Sundari Patrons ft. Mana Anandavel
Opening up a new chapter of conversations, we are thrilled to feature our Sundari Patrons, 6 inspiring women who have a long-standing relationship with Sundari Silks. The common thread that unites them is the emotional bond they share with us. Most of them, have been our customers since the very beginning and have played a huge part in making our journey so beautiful. When we reached out to them, they were more than happy to pose graciously in our Diwali Collection and also spoke with us about their love for sarees, personal style and nostalgic memories with Sundari Silks.
Meet 76-year-old Mana Anandavel, who decided to follow her dreams and started playing sports at the age of 45. She is a great inspiration for all women to get into fitness and pursue their passion, regardless of their age. Whether it is the hammer throw, discus, shot put, or hurdles, you can see her excel in every activity and win accolades one after the other.
Here are a few excerpts from the chat session.
How did your tryst with Sundari Silks begin?
I have been associated with Mr Rajaram’s family since the time I got married which is almost 57 years. For all the festivities such as Diwali and Nombu, we used to purchase only from Sundari Silks and the year used to be very prosperous for us. It is a very sentimental and lucky shop for my family.
The one thing you like the most about Sundari Silks.
The service is excellent. The shop owner, Mr. Rajaram is extremely humble and he shows sarees to all his customers by himself. I love Mani’s service as well. He knows my taste exactly. Now the next generation, Manmohan, Pavithra, Radha and Shankar, are also very kind and affectionate to me whenever I visit the store.
A special memory with Sundari Silks.
In the earlier days, whenever I used to go to the shop on Ayuda Pooja, Mr. Rajaram will treat me specially and ask the staff to give me thambulam. I used to feel very happy. It always feels good when you receive something on an auspicious day. That is a very special memory for me.
How would you describe your personal style? Do you like any recent saree trends?
I don’t like to follow trends. The Saree should fall properly and be comfortable. I don’t buy a saree just because someone has brought it. Most of my friend’s children like my Saree Collection. They walk to the showroom and ask Mani for the exact saree I have. Mani would reply that Mana Ma'am bought it, and it was just a single piece. Then he would order similar sarees for them.
Describe your experience with us so far.
I have never gone back home empty-handed from Sundari Silks. I am satisfied with every purchase I've made so far. If you go there, you will undoubtedly get a saree you will like.
We had a great time chatting with Mrs. Mana Anandavel and wish her the best of luck in all her future endeavours. We also hope to be a part of many more special occasions in her life.
In the pictures shown above, Mana Anandavel is seen wearing a Traditional Kanjivaram Silk Saree from our Mathappu Collection 2022. The saree comes in a striking colour combination of ash grey and peacock blue tones. The border displays pattu design and zari stripes and the pallu showcases unique parrot motifs.
