1954

The Bavanchi Year

Approaching a new decade, our dedication to heritage led to the beloved Bavanchi border design, born from a family collaboration. Even today, the design infuses sarees with a timeless warmth through its simplicity.

1959

The Year of First Fusion

We took our first step towards modernisation by curating a collection of Kanchipuram Silks using the unique Tie & Dye technique.

1998

The Brand was Born

With a treasury of innovations and endeavours, we gave life to the brand "Sundari Silks," anchoring its roots right here in Chennai.

1999

Signature Handwoven Sarees: An Inception

Driven by the commitment to uphold the genuineness of our textiles, we established a handloom facility in Thirucherai, equipped with 70 looms.

2011

A Mini Kanchipuram at Vile Parle!

Taking our footsteps further across the country, we inaugurated a store in the City of Dreams, Mumbai!

2012

Our First Fibre Fusion

Through our relentless pursuit of innovation, we pioneered the art of blending Silk and Bamboo Fiber in weaving.

2018

Pioneering the Evolution of Traditions

As a fresh initiative, we pioneered the integration of Ahimsa silk techniques into Kanchipuram weaving.

2019

Embracing Innovation in Technique

With an intention to add unique techniques to our craftsmanship, we Incorporated copper zari in the Kanchipuram silk sarees and introduced the 2 in 1 Upada-Jacquard technique of weaving.

2020

Unveiled a Saree One of its Kind

We crafted a saree with an interlocking technique, seamlessly extending the border design throughout the body butta. This unique masterpiece demands twice the weaving time of conventional sarees.

2021

Preserving Heritage with New Initiatives

In 2021, we took up the revival of the legacy of Kodalikaruppur sarees. We launched "Athirshtam" – exquisite oxidized silver jewellery and introduced a saree refurbishing facility to embody our appreciation towards heritage passed down through generations. We also inaugurated "Naran & Alankara", our in-house tailoring units for personalized ethnic attires.

2022

Of Pure Divinity and Craftsmanship

Undertaking an extraordinary endeavour, we custom-wove a stunning 90 feet saree, a masterpiece dedicated to goddess Ambal. This awe-inspiring creation stands as a testament to our dedication to artistry and tradition.

2023

The Regal Encounter

Princess Mary Crown of Denmark honored us with her presence, acknowledging our brand's elegance and craftsmanship.

Innovating Beyond Boundaries

Pushing the boundaries of creativity and fusing tradition with contemporary artistry, we introduced an innovation that features an Animal Border on Non-Repeat Sarees.
